LLORONAS
a play written by Carlos Manuel
and directed by Fernando Teson

The legend of La Llorona, the crying woman of Mexican folklore, haunts the life and imagination of a modern young woman, Marisela, whose child has been missing for several months, threatening to transform her into a permanent “crying woman” of our times. Meanwhile, there’s hope in her younger brother, Victor, who is inspired to finish school and compete for a scholarship by writing about the legend.
This creative, surreal retelling of the myth brings Marisela face to face with the haunting figure of La Llorona.
